Individual Therapy for High Achievers | LMFT

You’ve mastered survival. Now let’s create space for finding your center.

This is therapy for high achieving driven adults who want depth, clarity, and measurable change, not endless talking and vague advice.

You’re here because being the strong one is starting to feel heavy.

You’re in a meeting and someone challenges your idea. It’s not aggressive. It’s normal collaboration. You respond clearly, professionally, but the charge lingers long after the conversation ends. You replay it on the drive home, because your system won’t let it go.

You sit down on a Saturday with nothing urgent on the calendar. Instead of feeling relieved, you feel restless. You start reorganizing something. Cleaning. Checking emails “just in case.” The idea of doing nothing makes you uneasy, like you’re missing something important.

You’re having a normal conversation with your partner and they say, “You seem distant lately.” You immediately snap and start explaining. Defending. Listing everything you’ve been doing. Because in your mind, effort equals care.

They tell you to “calm down” or “relax,” and you react before you can even think. Because you are already holding so much together. Your stress, your reactions, your roles and responsibilities, the constant pressure. So being asked to “calm down” does not feel helpful. It feels like proof that no one sees how much you are actually carrying, and it pisses you off more.

Some days it shows up as control. Other days it shows up as withdrawal.

Either way, it doesn’t feel like ease, and you want that so badly but you’re not sure how to bring it to your life.

You’ve tried solving this the way you solve everything else. You refined your systems. You doubled down on discipline. You tried gratitude. You adjusted your schedule. You told yourself you just need a better balance.

But nothing has fundamentally shifted. And you’re ready to do something about that, not tomorrow or next week, but right now.

It’s not just that you’re snapping more or feeling distant lately, it’s that beneath it all, you’ve been carrying pressure for so long that your body doesn’t remember what it was like without it.

And it’s not your fault. No one ever taught you how to build success in a calm and grounded way instead of survival. That ends here.

You’ve already built an impressive life while running on pressure.

That is survival strength. But survival strength was never meant to be your permanent operating system.

When the trauma that taught you to push through, overfunction, and control begins to heal, something powerful happens. Your nervous system stabilizes. Your emotional range widens. Your capacity increases.

You stop snapping over small things, and you start responding with control even when pressure rises.

You stop carrying tension into every room, and you start entering conversations grounded and clear.

You stop overexplaining yourself to prove you care, and you start feeling secure enough to simply be present.

You stop feeling internally charged when challenged, and you start tolerating friction without losing composure.

You stop living at 200 miles per hour with no brakes, and you start moving with power and recovery built in.

You stop surviving your life, and you start enjoying it.

It’s time to live, lead, parent, and love from a regulated, confident body.

That’s exactly what my Therapy for High Achievers is designed to do: move you from overfunctioning and surviving to embodied regulation and controlled power.

Here’s what’s included:

Step 1: Stabilize the System

We start by identifying how survival mode is currently operating in your body. We map your triggers, your stress patterns, and your responses. From the beginning, we build nervous system regulation so you have immediate tools to reduce reactivity and increase steadiness.

Step 2: Resolve the Root Patterns

Once stability is in place, we address the root causes and learned patterns underneath the pressure. Overfunctioning, perfectionism, emotional suppression, hyper-independence — we untangle these at the source so you’re not just managing symptoms, you’re changing the wiring that’s driving them.

Step 3: Expand and Integrate

As regulation strengthens, we shift toward integration. Leadership becomes steadier. Relationships feel less reactive. Decisions feel clearer. You begin operating from embodied control instead of chronic bracing. This is where survival strength transforms into regulated power and capacity expands.

Hi, I’m Monica Helvie, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist specializing in trauma-informed, body-based therapy for high-achieving adults across Texas.

I’ve spent nearly a decade helping capable, driven professionals untangle the survival patterns that helped them succeed but are now limiting their capacity.

Here’s why I’m committed to this work:

I understand what it means to equate endurance with strength. I was raised in a family where responsibility and hard work were foundational. I built my early career in high-intensity mental health settings while raising three young children. I know the discipline it takes to hold everything together. I also know the cost.

This practice exists for people who have already proven they can push through challenging circumstances. I help them expand beyond living in survival mode into more ease, peace and freedom.

You already know you can’t keep doing it this way. A new way starts here.

My fee is $275 per 50-minute session

Sessions are typically scheduled weekly or biweekly, depending on your needs and goals.

I keep my caseload intentionally limited so I can do this work well. Your time is reserved and protected, and I show up prepared, focused, and fully engaged in the work we are doing together.

What happens in session matters, and so does what happens outside of it. I invest in ongoing training, clinical development, and preparation so we can work with depth, clarity, and direction, not just surface level conversation.

When you commit to this process, I meet you with the same level of intention. This work is most effective when both of us are fully invested.

“I told Monica at our last session, that she saved my life. It would take me a long time to tell you what I've gained from meeting her. She's a life saver. Words can't describe how much she had helped me. I'm trying to think of words to describe my experience, but there are none. She's an angel, and without a doubt, the BEST therapist I ever spoke to. The things she helped me with, I'll take with me for the rest of my life.”

Frequently asked questions

  • How does virtual therapy work?

Sessions are held through a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. You’ll receive a private link before each appointment. All you need is a quiet, private space, a stable internet connection, and a device with a camera and microphone.

Virtual therapy allows high-achieving professionals to prioritize consistency without adding commute time to an already full schedule.

  • Can I use insurance?

I do not accept or bill insurance. I have chosen to work directly for you, not within the limitations of insurance companies. This allows our work to stay focused on what you actually need, rather than what a policy will approve.

I am considered an out-of-network provider with all insurance plans. If your plan includes out-of-network benefits (often PPO plans), you may be eligible for partial reimbursement. I can provide a monthly superbill that you can submit to your insurance for this purpose.

You are responsible for contacting your insurance provider to understand your specific benefits and for submitting any claims. Coverage and reimbursement vary, and there are no guarantees of payment. Reimbursement should be viewed as a potential benefit, not something to rely on in order to begin or continue this work.

You also have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate outlining the expected cost of services. If you are not using insurance, this can be provided to you before we begin. For more information about your rights under this law, you can visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.

  • What happens if I need to cancel or reschedule?

Canceled appointments are charged the full session fee. A minimum of 24 hours’ notice is required to reschedule your appointment.

Consistency is important in this work. Regular sessions create the stability necessary for regulation and meaningful change.

  • How often will we meet?

I meet with clients weekly and biweekly at minimum. Each session lasts the duration of the appointment time you scheduled. This consistency maximizes the impact of the work and allows us to make legitimate progress toward your goals.

The total duration of your treatment is up to you! Some people come for a “tune up” type of experience. They only want/need a handful of sessions and feel equipped to move on. Others prefer to dive in and do deeper work and those individuals may choose to commit to longer periods of time.

Research suggests that addressing acute symptoms like general stress and anxiety typically requires a minimum of 15 to 20 sessions for significant improvement.

For more complex, chronic issues like processing childhood trauma, the number of sessions can vary widely, ranging from 30 to 150.  It's crucial for anyone considering therapy to be fully aware of this commitment, both emotionally and financially.

  • What should I ask my insurance to find out about reimbursement?

Some helpful questions to ask your benefit team:

    • Do I have a mental or behavioral health policy with out of network benefits?
    • What is the coverage amount per therapy sessions?
    • How much does my insurance pay for an out of network provider?
    • Check reimbursement for CPT codes 90791, 90837, 90846 and 90847
    • Do I have an out of network deductible?
    • How much of my out of network deductible has been met?
    • What is the start date of the calendar year my out of network policy is based on?
    • What is my patient responsibility (CoPay) for each session?

It’s time to channel your emotions, anxiety, and overwhelm into regulated  strength  that increases your capacity, deepens your relationships, and steadies you from the inside out.

You’re ready to do the internal work to live in your present moment and enjoy the life you’ve worked so hard to build.

And I’m here ready to hold that space for you.
