Therapy for Men | Male Mental Health Specialist
You’re not
angry.
You’re
overloaded.
Therapy for men who are done pretending everything’s fine and are ready to do the work.

You’re in the right place if:
You’ve caught yourself thinking: Why am I such an asshole lately?
You snap faster than you want to. You shut down when things get emotional.
You feel numb when you “should” feel connected.
And instead of seeing it as stress or overload, you make it mean something about your character.
You tell yourself you’re broken. Or weak. Or out of control... You don’t say it out loud, but you think it.
But what if
none of that is true?
What if anxiety, irritability, and shutdown aren’t character flaws, but feedback from a nervous system that’s been carrying too much for too long?
You’ve been trying to manage the symptoms.
When the real issue is that you’ve been carrying too much, for too long, on your own.
It’s not just that you’re reacting sharper than you want to, it’s
that beneath it, you’re terrified of becoming the version of a man you swore you’d never be.
But instead of guidance, you were handed silence. And it’s not your fault. No one ever taught you how to break these patterns without surrendering your strength. That changes here.

What if you could
go from:
Swallowing your anger in silence or reactive anger outbursts to commanding your nervous system?
Feeling like the bad guy in your own house to becoming the steady center of it?
Pushing through stress to actually feeling solid despite it?
Constant internal tension to a body that can finally sleep through the night?
Living at full speed to moving with steady, intentional control?
That’s exactly what my approach in therapy for men is designed to do:
Understand what’s driving your reactions, take the pressure off, and help you stay in control without white knuckling it.
Together we’ll work on:
Step 1: Map the Pattern
We identify your triggers, stress cycles, and shutdown responses so you understand exactly what’s happening instead of labeling yourself as the problem.
Step 2: Build Regulation
You’ll learn how to command your nervous system instead of being hijacked by it. We build practical regulation skills that reduce snapping, defensiveness, and withdrawal.
Step 3: Expand Capacity
With a regulated foundation, your reactions decrease, your presence increases, and your authority stabilizes. You don’t become softer. You become steadier and more controlled.

Hi, I’m
Monica Helvie, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist specializing in trauma-informed, body-based therapy for men who carry a lot and don’t talk about it.
I’ve spent nearly a decade working in high-intensity community mental health settings, helping individuals navigate crisis, chronic stress, and complex trauma. Today, I work with driven men who appear solid on the outside but are stretched thin underneath Here’s why I’m passionate about this work:
I’ve seen how many capable men mislabel themselves as broken, weak, or “just an asshole,” when what’s actually happening is nervous system overload. I respect strength. I respect responsibility. And I believe men deserve tools that build regulation without stripping away their integrity, drive or ambition.
This work isn’t about softening you. It’s about helping you stay steady under pressure.
I understand the pressure to be the rock.
To handle it all.
To suppress what you feel so you can stay strong for everyone and everything.
My role is to help you build the steadiness to show up in your life, your career, and your relationships the way you actually want to, without burning out or shutting down.
This is for men who are ready to do the work and ready to start now.

Therapy Investment
Invest in yourself, your relationships & your future.
My fee is
$275
per 50-minute session
Sessions are typically scheduled weekly or biweekly, depending on your needs and goals.
I keep my caseload intentionally limited so I can do this work well. Your time is reserved and protected, and I show up prepared, focused, and fully engaged in the work we are doing together.
What happens in session matters, and so does what happens outside of it. I invest in ongoing training, clinical development, and preparation so we can work with depth, clarity, and direction, not just surface level conversation.
When you commit to this process, I meet you with the same level of intention. This work is most effective when both of us are fully invested.

“I told Monica at our last session, that she saved my life. It would take me a long time to tell you what I've gained from meeting her. She's a life saver. Words can't describe how much she had helped me. I'm trying to think of words to describe my experience, but there are none. She's an angel, and without a doubt, the BEST therapist I ever spoke to. The things she helped me with, I'll take with me for the rest of my life.”

Frequently asked questions
How does virtual therapy work?
All sessions are conducted through a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. Prior to your appointment, you’ll receive a private link to access our session.
To participate, you’ll need a reliable internet connection, a device with a camera and microphone, and a quiet, confidential space where you won’t be interrupted.
Virtual therapy allows you to stay consistent in your work without adding commute time to an already demanding schedule.
Can I use insurance?
I am an out-of-network provider and do not bill insurance companies directly.
Upon request, I can provide a monthly superbill that you may submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. Reimbursement policies vary widely, so you are responsible for contacting your insurance provider to verify your out-of-network mental health benefits and to submit claims.
To understand your coverage, contact your insurance carrier’s member services department and ask detailed questions about your out-of-network benefits. It’s important to fully understand what your plan covers before beginning services.
Please note that insurance reimbursement is not guaranteed. Many factors influence whether claims are reimbursed. Any reimbursement should be considered a benefit if received, not a requirement for participating in therapy.
Good Faith Estimate
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining the expected cost of your medical and mental health care.
If you do not have insurance or choose not to use it, federal law requires that you receive an estimate of anticipated charges before services begin.
If you are uninsured or elect not to use insurance, please notify Insight Clinical Counseling and a Good Faith Estimate will be provided to you.
For additional information about your rights under the No Surprises Act, you may visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
What happens if I need to cancel or reschedule?
A minimum of 24 hours’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Sessions canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice may be charged the full session fee.
Consistency is a critical component of this work. Regular attendance supports nervous system stability and meaningful progress toward your goals.
How often will we meet?
Most clients attend sessions weekly or biweekly at minimum. Each appointment lasts for the full duration of the time scheduled.
Consistency increases the effectiveness of therapy and allows us to build real momentum.
The length of treatment varies based on your goals.
Some individuals engage in short-term work to address specific concerns and may attend for a limited number of sessions. Others choose to pursue deeper trauma resolution or long-standing pattern work, which requires a longer commitment.
Research indicates that addressing acute symptoms such as general stress or anxiety often requires approximately 15–20 sessions for significant improvement. More complex or long-standing concerns, including childhood trauma, may require a longer course of treatment.
Therapy is both an emotional and financial commitment. It’s important to enter the process with a clear understanding of that investment.
What should I ask my insurance to find out about reimbursement?
If you plan to seek reimbursement, consider asking your insurance provider:
- Do I have out-of-network mental or behavioral health benefits?
- What is the reimbursement rate per therapy session?
- What percentage of the session fee is reimbursed for out-of-network providers?
- What is my out-of-network deductible?
- How much of my out-of-network deductible has been met?
- What is my copay or patient responsibility per session?
- What calendar year is my deductible based on?
- Are CPT codes 90791, 90837, 90846, and 90847 eligible for reimbursement?
- Understanding these details in advance will help you make an informed financial decision.
