Therapist Murphy TX | Trauma Therapy Nearby

If you are looking for a trauma therapist in Murphy, TX, I offer therapy for high achievers who are used to holding everything together, even when it no longer feels sustainable. From the outside, your life may look stable or even successful. Internally, it can feel like there is constant pressure, anxiety, and no real sense of rest.

My work includes therapy for men and individuals who already have a high level of self-awareness, yet still find themselves stuck in cycles of overthinking, emotional shutdown, or chronic stress.

The goal of therapy here is not just to help you cope, but to change how you relate to pressure, control, and emotional overwhelm so your life feels more sustainable and aligned. Below, you will find a range of services designed to support you at different stages of that process. You are welcome to explore them and find what feels like the right fit for you.

How it works

Step 1: Stabilize the System

We start by identifying how survival mode is currently operating in your body. We map your triggers, your stress patterns, and your overfunctioning responses. From the beginning, we build nervous system regulation so you have immediate tools to reduce reactivity and increase steadiness.

Step 2: Resolve the Root Patterns

Once stability is in place, we address the trauma and learned patterns underneath the pressure. Overfunctioning, perfectionism, emotional suppression, hyper-independence — we untangle these at the source so you’re not just managing symptoms, you’re changing the wiring driving them.

Step 3: Expand Capacity and Integration

As regulation strengthens, we shift toward integration. Leadership becomes steadier. Relationships feel less reactive. Decisions feel clearer. You begin operating from embodied control instead of chronic bracing. This is where survival strength transforms into regulated power.

Individual Therapy

High-achieving adults often push themselves to meet expectations, appearing capable and composed, while internally feeling stretched, overworked, or disconnected.

Individual therapy for high-achieving adults helps identify the mental and emotional cycles that contribute to fatigue, irritability, and emotional shutdown. The work supports you in regulating stress, responding more intentionally, and finding balance amid the ongoing pace of life in Murphy.

Therapy for Men

Commuting along N. Murphy Road and handling a busy evening schedule can leave you feeling like you’re always “on,” even when the day is technically over. You may notice frustration building, emotional distance with loved ones, or difficulty expressing what you’re feeling inside.

Therapy for men helps break the habit of pushing through alone and teaches you how to manage stress in ways that feel natural. The work focuses on helping you process internal pressure, improve emotional awareness, and reconnect with yourself and your relationships.

Burnout Therapy

Burnout therapy is for you if you’ve been managing a lot for a long time, and your system is beginning to slow down.  You may notice that you’re still meeting expectations, but it feels heavier. There may be ongoing fatigue, irritability, or difficulty staying present.  In my work, we explore how your system has been affected by continuous pressure. Burnout therapy focuses on helping you understand what your body needs to recover.  From there, we begin to create space for more energy, more clarity, and a more sustainable way of moving through your day.

Anxiety Therapy

Anxiety therapy is for you if you feel like your mind is always one step ahead, trying to stay prepared.  You may be planning, analyzing, or anticipating outcomes, even when there’s no immediate need to do so.  In my work, we explore how that constant mental activity is connected to your body’s state of activation.  This helps you begin to slow down those patterns, so you can feel more present and less mentally overwhelmed.

EMDR Therapy

EMDR therapy supports you when your system hasn’t been able to fully process certain experiences.  You might feel like you’ve moved on mentally, but your body still reacts with tension, anxiety, or emotional overwhelm.  In my approach, EMDR therapy helps complete that processing so your system can begin to settle.  From there, you can move through your day with more ease, more clarity, and a greater sense of stability.

PTSD Therapy

PTSD therapy is for you if you feel like your system is always slightly alert or on edge.  Even in calm moments, you may notice tension, difficulty relaxing, or a sense that something isn’t fully settled.  I work with you to understand how your nervous system has adapted and why it continues to respond this way.  From there, we begin to shift those patterns so you can experience more calm and stability.

Somatic Therapy

Somatic therapy supports you when your system feels like it’s always slightly “on.”  You might notice a constant background tension, difficulty slowing down, or a sense that your body doesn’t fully relax.  In my approach, we focus on helping your system recognize safety and begin to settle.  This allows you to feel more calm, more present, and less driven by that underlying activation.

Betrayal trauma therapy

Betrayal trauma and infidelity therapy supports you when your thoughts and emotions feel difficult to regulate.  You might find yourself going back and forth between trying to understand and feeling overwhelmed by the impact.  In my approach, we focus on helping your system process that experience so it no longer feels as destabilizing.  Over time, this creates more balance, more clarity, and a stronger sense of control.

I support clients in Murphy, TX, through virtual therapy, making it easier to prioritize your mental health without needing to carve out extra time you don’t have.

In Murphy, many people are working in hybrid or fully in-office roles in Dallas, spending hours each week commuting on 75, then coming home to family responsibilities, routines, and very little space to reset. Virtual therapy allows you to log in from home and still have a consistent place to think clearly and process what’s actually going on.

It’s designed to fit into your real schedule, not an ideal one.

“I told Monica at our last session, that she saved my life. It would take me a long time to tell you what I've gained from meeting her. She's a life saver. Words can't describe how much she had helped me. I'm trying to think of words to describe my experience, but there are none. She's an angel, and without a doubt, the BEST therapist I ever spoke to. The things she helped me with, I'll take with me for the rest of my life.”

Frequently asked questions

  • How do I know if we’re a good fit?

Therapy works best when you feel safe, seen, and understood. If you're curious about working together, I offer a free 20-minute consultation where we can discuss your needs, my approach, and whether it feels like the right fit for you.

  • How often do we meet?

Most clients meet weekly or biweekly, depending on their needs and goals. We can discuss what frequency feels best for your process.

  • How long should I expect to be in therapy?

There is no standard timeline for therapy; it depends entirely on you and what you hope to gain.

At the beginning, we’ll establish goals and check in on progress over time. Healing is not just about “checking off” goals but about feeling confident in your ability to navigate challenges and growth without therapy.

Some people find 3 months helpful for gaining awareness and new tools. Others find that around 6 months, they begin making meaningful changes. Some continue therapy as a space for ongoing self-growth, while others work toward a specific outcome and end when they feel complete. I will never expect you to be in therapy longer than you need.

  • What’s your cancellation policy?

I require 48 hours' notice for cancellations. Late cancellations or missed sessions may be subject to a fee. This is explained more fully in my intake paperwork.

  • Can I use my insurance for virtual therapy?

I currently do not accept insurance payments. I can support you in seeking out of network reimbursement if your insurance plans has those benefits.
